Electrocardiogram (ECG) Workshop

However, ECG training in most specialties only teaches the necessary knowledge. Through a series of focused lectures and case-presentations, we will discuss multiple ECG key points with real cases that will elevate your confidence and ability to interpret ECGs to a higher level. We will also discuss some of the common pitfalls that can lead to adverse outcomes.

The workshops are in Part 1 and Part 2 where we will cover a mix of practical patient presentations, mainly in the emergency department where the ECG is the first and probably the most crucial investigation tool to decide on your patient’s management and disposition.
This course is relevant for those who work or wish to work in the Emergency Department, Cardiology, Critical Care and General Practice.

  1. Introduction: Why is the ECG important
  2. The normal 12 lead ECG
  3. Recognising Acute Coronary Syndrome: the classic ECGs
  4. Recognising subtle manifestations of ACS: the difficult ECGs
  5. Tachy-arrhythmias
  1. Summary and key learning points: workshop Part 1
  2. Brady-arrhythmias
  3. Cardiac Arrest: rhythm recognition
  4. Mimics of Acute Coronary Syndrome: Pericarditis, Hyperkalemia, Benign early repolarisation
  5. Syncope and the ECG

At the completion of this workshop students would have gained knowledge about ECG reading.
Also, the participant will receive a certificate for attending the workshop.
Completion of this workshop entitles the student to 40 Category 1 points by the RACGP QI&CPD Program in the 2014 – 16 triennium,– Activity: 24346.
