Men’s health is an integral part of general practice setting in Australia. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn about the common men’s health issues and managements options in General Practice setting.
This activity aims to assist GPs to appropriately diagnose and effectively treat a range of reproductive health disorders affecting young adult men by providing knowledge, skills and communication strategies. The session includes lectures on the common health issues encountered in young Australian men and case discussions. Some of the topics that would be discussed are Sexual disorders (Premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and infertility), Screening for cancers, infections and screenings, aboriginal men’s health and communication strategies for encouraging men to confidently discuss their sexual health.

Mens health workshop

This activity aims to assist GPs to appropriately diagnose and effectively treat a range of reproductive health disorders affecting young adult men by providing knowledge, skills and communication strategies. There are some male reproductive health disorders that are under diagnosed and this activity will educate GPs to recognise and help manage them in primary care settings. This activity also helps with communication strategies for doctors to confidently engage young men in discussions relating to their sexual and reproductive health and involve partners (if applicable) in management and routinely undertake genital examinations as part of the assessment of young men’s health.

The workshop will include lectures explaining the various aspects of common condition seen in young men, case presentations and discussions on how to manage each case according to current guidelines. It will also include role play to discuss communication strategies to talk about reproductive and sexual health in young men.

• Identify strategies for encouraging men to engage in their own health care and with their health care providers.
• Recognise appropriate management strategies for impaired fertility in men.
• Describe the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of testicular cancer
• Implement effective management strategies for patients with STIs and sexual dysfunction.
• Use evidence-based resources which support the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of reproductive health disorders in young adult males.
